We got a copy of the 2007 Playmobil catalog last week. Parents of young children know that Playmobil produces high-quality kid’s toys. Their latest product line, however, includes an “Ancient Romans” playset complete with arena, gladiators, spectators, and lions with cage. No figures are specifically labeled as Christians, but any knowledgeable 6-year-old should be able to improvise.
At our church, we use the Gospel Light Co.’s curriculum for our Vacation Bible School, and their 2007 VBS will feature the wholesome, Jesus-like “Spies” theme. Most publishers of VBS curricula usually seem to use the same theme (last year everyone’s was “Caribbean Islands”) so come June, look for juveniles executing top-secret clandestine ops at a church near you. To be honest, my son will probably love this theme. I’m not crazy about it, though.
